Quick Start

Once npx maestria install codex completes, start a fresh Codex CLI session so the marketplace state and managed orchestration instructions load. Normal engineering requests then run in the host-owned Codex session, which applies the maestria orchestrator guidance automatically.

Use the orchestrator skill when a task is unfamiliar, cross-file, or risky:

$maestria:orchestrator I need to add rate limiting to the API. Plan and implement it.

The orchestrator chooses between direct work and native specialist agents based on task risk and available runtime capabilities. It is methodology guidance, not a replacement for Codex’s approvals or sandbox.

Use one specialist for one kind of help:

$maestria:adventurer Trace the authentication flow and report the relevant files.

The specialist skills are $maestria:adventurer, $maestria:architect, $maestria:builder, $maestria:diagnose, $maestria:planner, $maestria:reviewer, and $maestria:writer (see the Agent Reference for role details).

When the native companion pack is installed, the same roles are available to Codex delegation as maestria-adventurer, maestria-architect, maestria-builder, maestria-diagnose, maestria-planner, maestria-reviewer, and maestria-writer through the native agent_type selector.

The modes are Codex skills rather than slash commands: $maestria:fein (full pipeline: reconnaissance, design, implementation, review), $maestria:sonar (research only; stops before implementation), and $maestria:blitz (fast, capability-aware route for small or well-understood work).

$maestria:fein Add rate limiting to the API.

After the builder completes, invoke the reviewer in a separate turn:

$maestria:reviewer Review the current diff for correctness, security, and missing tests.

The reviewer skill is advisory: Codex may still expose write-capable tools while it is active. Use Codex’s sandbox and approval controls for a hard boundary.
